Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology is a school with a general academic / scientific profile, conducted jointly with the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk and Institute of Hydro-Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk. Doctoral students at our School develop creative problem-solving skills and conduct research under the guidance of experienced supervisors. This close collaboration is a key aspect of their education, ensuring they gain the knowledge and expertise required to pursue careers in academia or industry.
Doctoral School
Gdańsk University of Technology offers tuition-free doctoral education in the following areas:
- Social sciences,

PhD training at our Doctoral School is fully funded and includes doctoral scholarships for all PhD students. We promote a creative and interdisciplinary approach to research. The program is structured across 14 disciplines entirely conducted in English, fostering both interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
Two disciplines - Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transport - are offered in cooperation with two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences based in Gdańsk: the Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery and the Institute of Hydro-Engineering. All programs emphasize interdisciplinary research.

Sports Facilities
Sport is an integral part of student life at Gdańsk Tech. The Academic Sports Center offers state-of-the-art facilities, supporting a wide range of sports activities for PhD students.
The center features 20 sports sections, including swimming, athletics, judo, volleyball, football, tennis, and table tennis. Students have access to a modern pool complex with a 25-meter and 12.5-meter pools, used for both education and recreation. Additional facilities include a full-size sports hall for team games, a new tennis hall, a football pitch, a climbing wall, and two beach volleyball courts. Rowing enthusiasts can train at the AZS Gdańsk Tech University Club, home to the only university rowing facility of its kind in Poland, which regularly hosts national and international competitions.
The university also offers a well-equipped gym, aerobics room, and a dedicated judo section for martial arts training. Students can participate in skiing and sailing camps, making it easy to combine academic life with outdoor adventures.

Facilities
PhD students can reside in Student House No. 12, located on the edge of the Tricity Landscape Park at 115A Traugutta Street. All rooms are single, mostly arranged in two-room suites with a shared bathroom and a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator.
Students also have an option of renting private apartments, as the Tri-City area offers a variety of housing options.
Thanks to the university's central location in Gdańsk, commuting is convenient regardless of where students choose to live. The campus is well-connected by tram, bus, and train, ensuring easy access to all parts of the city.
