Introduction

Bachelor in Industrial Design

The subject area Industrial Design is in a rapidly accelerating development in the transition from the industrial society to a knowledge- and communication-based society.

More products are being produced than ever before - and of very varying quality. The requirements for the products have also changed - they are becoming increasingly intelligent and communicative. The values of the products have moved from the purely material to what they can and what we can do with them.

At Industrial Design, students work with the classic virtues such as sketching, marker drawing, 3-D programming and model building. But they are increasingly also dealing with overarching concepts for the users' future and the intangible values the products carry with them. Therefore, user observation and mapping of users' action patterns is a core area for the subject.

Industrial design emphasizes idea generation and visualization as well as the ability to collaborate with companies and other professional groups - from business economists and engineers to sociologists and anthropologists.

The subject area collaborates continuously with a large number of companies on teaching and project development, including e.g. Bang & Olufsen, Lego, Innovation Lab and Kildemoes.
