Key Summary
Introduction
The Environmental Science Technology program focuses on environmental compliance and protection of our land and water at the federal, state, and local levels. Under the direction of an environmental scientist, graduates will be expected to perform physical, chemical, and biological sampling in the field. Graduates will also identify and quantify organisms, establish sampling areas, perform water and soil analysis, maintain field equipment, record test data, and prepare reports. Much of this work will occur in the field or the laboratory.
Mission
The mission of the Environmental Science Technology Program is to provide and enrich the students with the basic skills, knowledge, and abilities in the fields of environmental compliance and technology, and to enable the students to gain entry-level employment in the field.
Description
The EST Water Specialization is a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) State-certified program preparing students for careers in water and/or wastewater. Program graduates will have met the academic requirements for the Level "C" State Exam in Water and/or Wastewater Training Operator.
