About: The B.S. in Exercise Science at Davis & Elkins College covers exercise physiology, testing and prescription, kinesiology, human anatomy and research methods. You must complete an academic minor (not athletic training), an athletic training emphasis, or pre‑professional pre‑physical‑therapy specialization. The exercise science program at Davis & Elkins College provides you with a working knowledge of the physiology of exercise, exercise testing, and prescription. In addition to coursework in wellness, kinesiology, research methods, human anatomy, and much more, you are required to complete either an academic minor other than athletic training, an emphasis in athletic training, or completion of the pre-professional specialization in pre-physical therapy.

During your academic year, you’ll be provided with a variety of engaging experiences, both on and off campus, to help you build a strong resume, which is necessary to succeed.
As a student studying exercise science, you’ll complete an internship under professional supervision. Our strong alumni network and faculty connections will provide you with opportunities to engage with leaders in the industry.
Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared for a career in public and privately owned wellness and fitness centers, corporate fitness facilities, and clinical therapeutic programs, including cardiac and stroke rehabilitation centers.
Other career opportunities include: personal trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, personal training instructor, geriatric fitness instructor, weight-control counselor, exercise test technologist, and community health worker. Students studying exercise science at D&E have a very high placement rate for graduate school, as they are well prepared to continue their education through an excellent academic foundation.
