Davis & Elkins College is a private liberal arts institution in Elkins, West Virginia, offering a personalized and academically engaging college experience. Known for its small class sizes and close faculty–student relationships, D&E ensures students receive individualized attention and meaningful mentorship.

The college offers a wide range of undergraduate programs across business, education, health sciences, sport management, and the liberal arts, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning through internships, research, and hands-on projects.

A key strength of D&E is the Naylor Learning Center, which provides targeted academic support, including services specifically designed to support international students as they transition to the U.S. education system.

Located in the Appalachian Mountains, D&E offers a safe, welcoming campus community that values inclusion, global perspectives, and student success.

A small, diverse community where friends, staff, and faculty feel like family.

Fun is more about who you’re with than what you’re doing. At Davis & Elkins, strong relationships with friends and faculty who care about you are what make campus engagement fulfilling. It’s a cross-cultural community with people from all over the world.

Out of those relationships comes a campus that’s alive with activity. From the residence halls to the fitness center, student organizations, places to eat, and events to attend on and off campus, a lot is going on here!

Residence Life

If you’re coming to D&E as a freshman, we encourage you to build close relationships with other students through our communal living arrangements. Ask just about any D&E alum about their college experience. They’ll tell you all about the lifelong friends they met in our residence halls.

D&E has nine residence halls:

  • Roxanna Booth Hall
  • Darby Hall
  • Gribble Hall
  • Moyer Hall
  • Presidential Center
  • Glory Residence Hall
  • Byrd Center
  • Varchetto Village
  • Morrison-Novakovic Center

Residence Halls are co-ed housing with men and women assigned to separate floors.

Around Campus

Student Government Association

The D&E Student Senate is an active governing body where students are leading the way every day. Members amplify voices among the student body, influence campus policymaking, and help make the D&E community stronger.

Student Organizations

Other organizations include:

  • Senator Entertainment
  • Student Ambassadors
  • Appalachian Ensemble
  • International Student Organization
  • Student Veterans Association
  • Chapel Team
  • Many Greek organizations (fraternities and sororities)

Spiritual Community

Davis & Elkins College is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA). We welcome Presbyterians, Christians from other denominations, and people of all faiths.

  • Sunday services are offered at Robbins Memorial Chapel.
  • Campus Bible study is offered through the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
  • The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) offers many opportunities for spiritual engagement.

In addition, the Morrison-Novakovic Center organizes service projects for recipients of the Faith & Public Policy Scholarship and provides housing for upperclassmen in the program.

Food & Fun On Campus

At the Madden Student Center, you’ll find the Senator Arcade and the Benedum Dining Room. Most of your meals will be there, but the Cadillac Daddy Cafe also offers light meals.

The Caboose Cafe is a decommissioned train car transformed into a coffee shop. It sits beside Lake Toalsted, a normally placid body of water that gets pretty choppy during the annual Dorm Wars tug of war competition.

Hanging Out & Working Out

One of the most popular places on campus for studying and just hanging out is the Booth Library. With 24-hour access, students are there … well, all the time. That is, when there’s not a huge concert going on in the Harper-McNeeley Auditorium or a more intimate one in the Icehouse.

The Myles Center for the Arts provides a more reflective experience surrounded by exquisite works of art, while Robbins Memorial Chapel is the center of spiritual life on campus.

Over at the Robbins-Madden Fitness Center, a pool and workout area are open to both the student body and the public. Student athletes enjoy an exclusive workout section of Martin Fieldhouse.

Hitting the Town

The City of Elkins is a small but vibrant arts community, featuring the Randolph County Community Arts Center, mom-and-pop shops downtown, unique restaurants, a farmer’s market on Saturdays, and a city park just off the D&E campus.

The Mountain State Forest Festival is the biggest event in Elkins, bringing in tens of thousands each fall. There are often free outdoor concerts at the old railyard downtown, and Elkins Cinema 8 offers D&E students admission for $2.50 on Tuesdays and free admission every second Friday.

The Mountain State Lifestyle

The rail trail runs by the D&E campus, through town, and out into the glorious hill country here in the Allegheny Highlands.

With Seneca Rocks, Seneca and Bowden Caverns, the Dolly Sods Wilderness at Monongahela National Forest, New River Gorge, and the Cheat River featuring the rapids of Woolwine Run all nearby, there is no end to what you can explore and experience in nature.

If you love to hike, fish, go caving or mountain biking, skiing, rafting, or canoeing … or if you just love exploring and photographing the natural world … there is a place here for you!

At Davis & Elkins College, we feel strongly that diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences are integral parts of a liberal arts education.

That’s why we welcome international students, who infuse our campus with a lively mix of cultures, ethnicities, and languages. Roughly ten percent of D&E’s campus is comprised of international students: qualified, motivated, deeply curious individuals who thrive in the small, creative, close-knit community Davis & Elkins College provides.

International students (anyone who would require a U.S. student visa, F1 & J1, to study at the College) follow the same application process as domestic students, with a few additional requirements.

For more information about traveling to campus and your time on campus, visit the Accepted Students section of the website.
