Introduction

With the Daoist Traditions doctoral degree, you get more than just a degree title – you will learn skills to advance your career and expand your practice.

Our DACM program includes advanced competencies in collaborative care, systems-based medicine, and evidence-informed practice – essential skills and knowledge for acupuncturists in today’s team-based medical model. The program offers advanced studies in speciality areas commonly seen in clinical practice – Orthopedics, Neurology, Endocrinology, Obstetrics, and Cardiology. Broaden your ability to help your patients with advanced study of these commonly seen conditions.

Unique clinical experiences give you the skills to effectively collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Experience the integration of diverse medical perspectives in collaborative care rounds with Chinese medicine and allopathic practitioners. You will participate in clinical discussions on patient care and acupuncture, herbal medicine, Chinese food therapy, and western nutrition treatment plans. You are guided in evaluating laboratory results and pharmaceutical actions from both Chinese and Western medical perspectives.

Learn how to use current evidence to make decisions about patient care and identify the potential benefits and harms of various healthcare interventions. Bringing together clinical experience with evidence from research, you will evaluate medical paradigms' strengths and weaknesses.

Hybrid courses offer you the flexibility to continue your clinical practice while earning your degree. The modular class schedule reduces travel time and offers convenience to fit into your busy schedule. Didactic courses combine the best aspects of face-to-face learning and online activities to reinforce and complement what is learned in class. In-person modules provide an opportunity for hands-on instruction by experienced faculty and collaboration with other students.

Whether you want to earn your degree in one year or pace yourself over two years, our DACM program can meet your needs. Online work throughout the semester includes asynchronous and synchronous activities and class sessions. Week-long class sessions meet on our campus four times per year in the one-year format and twice per year in the two-year format. The DACM Professional Track consists of 16 credits and 305 hours.
