Introduction

The Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) degree prepares students for specific career/technical skills. The requirements for each major in the Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) are clearly shown in curriculum degree plans in the Dallas College catalog and are located under Career and Technical Education Programs. Students seeking such a degree should become familiar with the specific required courses in the appropriate curriculum degree plans and request advice regarding these courses as needed.

Students must have a minimum of 60 credit hours with a grade of "C" or better in each of the two general education courses

  • English 1301
  • Mathematics 1314 or higher or Science (whichever is required).

Each Associate of Applied Science Degree requires students to take 15 credit hours from the general education categories. Nine hours will be drawn from Humanities or Fine Arts, three hours will be drawn from Social or Behavioral Science, and three hours will be drawn from Mathematics or Natural Science (the specific curriculum degree plan will cite what students must take to meet these requirements).

Additionally, each student must earn a grade point average of at least 2.00 ("C"), based on GPA #2, and meet all TSI standards in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. The GPA is based only on the credit hours used to meet degree requirements and the following courses will not count toward graduation or the GPA for graduation: Courses numbered below 1000, ARTS 1170, DIRS 9170, 9270, 9370, DRAM 1121, MUSI 9176 and 9378.
