Introduction

The Bachelor study programme Forestry, specialization in Forest Ecosystems Protection and Silviculture can be studied full-time or part-time. The three-year study provides a comprehensive education in biological, ecological, and technical subjects. The aim is to provide all students with broad theoretical knowledge regarding all the functions of forest ecosystems, their interconnectedness and their importance within 21st-century society. Also, the role of society in the management of natural resources and the use of these natural resources, including the role of forestry in the so-called bioeconomy, with the strong social aspect of sustainable use of forest ecosystems. The subjects are arranged in such a way that students gain an insight into all core forestry disciplines and can apply them in practice, whether it is nature conservation, forest production, or the provision of recreational and other functions of the forest. In addition to theoretical lessons, the study also includes many field exercises.
