Introduction

The undergraduate programme in Fine Arts offers studies in two-dimensional creation (drawing, painting, engraving, etc.) and three-dimensional creation (sculpture, constructions, installations, etc.), as well as technological applications in art, from photography to video, animation as well as video and audio digital applications.

These studies are enriched by the substantial presence of modules in the History and Theory of Fine Arts, Architecture and New Media, as well as in the Philosophy (including Aesthetics) of Art. The aim is thus to develop the methodological tools and the theoretical background for enriching the practice and creation of art with the necessary, in contemporary, international art production, framework of historical and theoretical knowledge and critical thinking.

During the first two years (four semesters) of the programme, students attend a joint curriculum, while in the third and fourth year, students are given the opportunity to opt for their specialization between two-dimensional and three-dimensional creation. The modules offered in the first two years are all compulsory, while in the third and fourth years (in the 5th, 6th and 7th semesters) students can choose a number of elective modules. In the last, 8th semester, emphasis is placed on the creation of projects that constitute the students’ Degree Project, along with a module in Arts Curating and Management, which is directly related to presentation of their Degree Project.
