Key Summary
Introduction
The program promotes excellence and educates students on the significant issues in Medical Genetics. The challenging curricula includes mandatory taught courses which cover the main aspects of Medical Genetics and a number of elective courses enabling students to broaden their knowledge on other fields of Medical Genetics. The MSc Research or Library Projects on various aspects of Medical Genetics are conducted in the state-of-the-art Departments and Clinics of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). As an International Centre of Excellence, CING carries out pioneering research in Medical Genetics and therefore provides MSc students with the knowledge and tools to complete a competitive Research or Library Project. MSc Students have the opportunity to attend courses in innovative fields which include Cytogenetics and Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Methodologies and Technologies Applied in Medical Genetics and Biochemical Basis of Genetic Diseases.

Curriculum
The courses offered under the CING postgraduate programmes of study, have been developed by each Course Co-ordinator with the aim of educating students on innovative areas of biomedical sciences, within their respective areas of expertise. Each course is based upon both learning objectives and employment objectives, ensuring that the CING delivers fully equipped graduates to the job market, an objective which has been proven through the high employment rates of our graduates. The courses include weekly lectures and tutorials including lab-based workshops for each course. As a student at the CING you will be expected to attend both core and elective courses, depending on your chosen programme of study.
Program Outcome
Intended learning outcomes: Upon completing this programme, MSc graduates will have acquired a detailed knowledge of the major medical genetics topics with emphasis on clinically relevant and translational aspects of genetic diseases. Our graduates may embark on a PhD programme and thus enter a research/academic career or join Clinical Laboratories offering genetic diagnostic services, the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare organisations and hospitals. Scholarships are offered to MSc students subject to availability. Students of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics are entitled to apply for a Government grant based on the Government’s assessment criteria.

Students of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics are entitled to apply for a publicly-funded grant based on the Government’s assessment criteria.
The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics Scholarships
A number of full and partial scholarships to cover tuition fees are awarded to MSc students based on academic criteria.
The exact amount and number of scholarships that are offered is always subject to the yearly budget of the School.
