The objective of the Doctoral School of Social Communication operating since 2012 is the examination of issues of theoretical and applied communication, the clarification of the notion of communication, its role in society and its theoretical context, as well as the exploration of the sociological, socio/psychological, cultural, anthropological and ethological aspects of communication. The doctoral program furthermore extends to the complex examination of the social embeddedness of communication, functioning, and the cultural, political, economic, technological, and legal determinedness of the processes taking place in the media landscape.

The Doctoral School operates at the Faculty of Humanities of CUB and is supervised by the University Doctoral Council (UDC). The institutes of the faculty as well as other institutes, departments, and lecturers of the university are involved in the activities of the Doctoral School.
