Concordia University of Edmonton’s Bachelor of Science in Chemistry 3-year is designed to provide students with an excellent general education as well as a solid background in the core areas of chemistry. Chemistry is at work in a multitude of things we interact with daily, many of them without even knowing about it. It is the study of atoms and molecules, their function, uses, and applications in the world around us. Advancements in the field of chemistry offer endless implications such as efficient fuels, dyes that do not fade, advancements, stainless steel and non-rusting metals. Furthermore, chemical advancements affect public health as well, such as antibiotics and fungicides.
Nearly every business uses chemistry somewhere in its operation, and there are always fascinating new applications being developed. It is a field of study that is constantly evolving, meaning challenging and continuous education within careers in the chemistry career path.

In addition to the above, students must complete:
- Elementary Calculus I and Elementary Calculus II
- 3 credits in PHY courses.
- 6 credits of courses offered by the Departments of Social Sciences or Psychology.
- 3 credits of ENG courses.
- 3 additional credits of courses offered by the Departments of Literature and Languages, Religious Studies and Philosophy, or Fine Arts, Handbells and Handchimes for Children and Youth.
In addition to the above, students must present:

Permissible minors: All minors listed in section 10.6 other than Chemistry.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry allows graduates to explore a wide range of job opportunities. They will be able to use their newfound research, analysis, and experimentation skills to forge their own career path.
Some chemistry degree career paths include Forensic Analyst, Quality Control Analyst, R&D Scientist, Toxicologist, Laboratory Instructor, Laboratory Technician, Research Assistant, and Technical Salesperson. Sample courses include Environmental Chemistry, Quantitative Chemical Analysis, Quantum Chemistry, and Spectroscopic Methods.
