  • Run Run Shaw Library: Located on Level 2 (Yellow and Red Zones) and Level 3 of Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, the Library occupies a central location easily accessible to users. The Library's collection includes more than 1 million volumes of print books and about 2 million electronic books.
  • Computers and Internet: Express Terminals in the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building and computers in the Computing Services Centre (CSC) are available for students' use. Wireless LAN is available in most parts of the campus, including the ground area of the Student Residence.
  • Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre (LC): The Centre delivers high-quality, practical language training and provides facilities and guidance for independent language study. It promotes and supports informal activities for language practice.
  • Activity Venues: Whether your activity is energetic or tends to the mind, many kinds of activity venues are made available on campus. Study room, discussion room, case room, studio, dancing room, dark room, music room, band room, tearoom, etc -- explore what CityUHK created for you.
  • Sports & Recreation Facilities: The sports facilities on campus are available for booking, including a physical fitness room and a table tennis room. For outdoor sports facilities, you may use the on-campus swimming pool and outdoor basketball court located opposite the student residence halls.
  • Joint Sports Centre: The Joint Sports Centre at Renfrew Road, Kowloon Tong, provides an 11-a-side standard soccer field, an all-weather running track, a multi-purpose court for basketball, volleyball and handball, tennis courts, and other facilities.
  • Health Care: Young Chung-Yee Health Centre is a medical and dental clinic on campus that provides general medical consultations and dental care services to members of CityUHK. Healthcare services in Hong Kong are comprehensive, highly professional and people-centred.
  • Administrative Information Management System (AIMS): Through AIMS, students can manage or view their course registration, class schedule, examination timetable and results, Student Residence application, personal information, student financial account, campus job application, application for certain student services, etc.
  • CityUHK Portal / Canvas: An electronic infrastructure provides various online services and information related to study and life at CityUHK, including news about activities and academic matters. Campus facilities can be booked through the e-Portal.
  • CityUHK Mobile: An official app of City University of Hong Kong providing a convenient platform for staff, students and visitors to access important information about CityUHK.

    • Student Development Services: SDS is the first port of call for developmental programmes and financial support, physical education activities, counselling services, and career and leadership guidance.
    • Student Residence Office: For anything to do with living on or off campus, the SRO can help. Responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate hall applications, off-campus accommodation, and more, SRO ensures that students have a safe and supportive place to live while studying at CityU.

    Getting to CityUHK

    CityUHK is situated at the heart of Kowloon Tong. The Campus is accessible by various means of public transportation. Taking the MTR is one of the convenient ways to reach the Campus, it is just a 5-minute walk from Kowloon Tong Station via Festival Walk Shopping Centre. CityUHK is also just a 30-minute ride away from the Hong Kong International Airport (airport).

    Applicants applying to CityUHK must meet the minimum General Entrance Requirements. In addition to the General Entrance Requirements, individual degrees/majors may have programme-specific entrance requirements.

    • GCE System:
    • Minimum Grade E or above in three GCE A Level (or A2) / International A Level subjects (Two AS Subjects are considered to be equivalent to one AL subject. The same subject cannot be counted at both the A Level and AS Level.)
    • Grade C / Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language or English Literature, or a TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based test), or an overall IELTS band score of 6.5.
      • Minimum Grade E or above in three GCE A Level (or A2) / International A Level subjects (Two AS Subjects are considered to be equivalent to one AL subject. The same subject cannot be counted at both the A Level and AS Level.)
      • Grade C / Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language or English Literature, or a TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based test), or an overall IELTS band score of 6.5.
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
    • An IB Diploma for admission to first-year studies. A minimum diploma point score of 30 (out of 45) is required for Advanced Standing I admission.
    • Grade 4 or above in English A: Language and Literature (Higher or Standard Level) / English A: Literature (Higher or Standard Level) / English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) / English B (Higher Level), or Grade 5 or above in English B (Standard Level).
      • An IB Diploma for admission to first-year studies. A minimum diploma point score of 30 (out of 45) is required for Advanced Standing I admission.
      • Grade 4 or above in English A: Language and Literature (Higher or Standard Level) / English A: Literature (Higher or Standard Level) / English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) / English B (Higher Level), or Grade 5 or above in English B (Standard Level).
    • Other secondary qualifications: Graduating students or graduates of high school following a non-HKDSE curriculum are accepted.
    • Post-Secondary Study
    • An accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (AD / HD) or equivalent qualification (final year or graduate).
      Bachelor's degree study of one year or more / postgraduate study.
    • Completion of one year of AD / HD (non-final year, with CGPA ≥ 3.0 or an equivalent overall mark). (For applicants with a 13-year high school qualification [e.g., IB, GCEAL], advanced standing may be considered.)
      • An accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (AD / HD) or equivalent qualification (final year or graduate).
        Bachelor's degree study of one year or more / postgraduate study.
      • Completion of one year of AD / HD (non-final year, with CGPA ≥ 3.0 or an equivalent overall mark). (For applicants with a 13-year high school qualification [e.g., IB, GCEAL], advanced standing may be considered.)
    • English Language Requirements (for applicants holding non-local qualifications): Applicants who obtained their entrance qualifications in a language other than English will need to have achieved an acceptable result in an approved English language test, such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT.

    Entrance Scholarships for Undergraduate Studies

    The University identifies high-calibre students with outstanding academic and/or non-academic achievement for the entrance scholarships upon successful admission; students do not have to submit an application separately. Entrance scholarships are available for both local and non-local students.

    Studentships and Financial Aids for Research Degree Students

    Various forms of internal and external financial aid/scholarships are provided by the University/the Government to recognise research degree students with outstanding academic performance and to support their research studies. The University Grants Committee has also introduced a “Tuition Waiver Scheme” for all local students enrolled in full-time UGC-funded Research Postgraduate programmes in local institutions, to cover their tuition fees.

    Other Scholarships for Existing Students

    CityUHK offers various types of scholarships and prizes, which are donated by individuals, private organizations, professional bodies, and academic departments, in order to recognize the academic and non-academic achievements of our students.

    Rankings

    CityUHK’s strong performance in international ranking exercises represented the culmination of a continuous emphasis on scholarly knowledge and an excellent education and research environment for faculty and students. It is also a testament to the “soulware” factor embedded in CityUHK’s contributions to society and higher education through the integration of teaching and research. CityUHK ranks 54th in the world according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for 2023, and is the 4th best university in the world under 50 years of age according to QS for 2021.

    First and only veterinary school in Hong Kong

    The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, serves as a leading local and regional centre of excellence in research and training. The College has launched the first 6-year Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme in Asia, designed to meet strenuous international accreditation standards.

    Research

    CityUHK faculty attracted significant sums from different funding agencies for their research projects. In 2020/21, we received over HK$2,500 million in external research funding. Our research is so strong that CityUHK is now ranked 1st in citations per faculty in Hong Kong, according to the QS World University Rankings, averaged over 5 years from 2017 to 2021.
