Introduction

The specialized work in Multimodal Expressive Arts Therapy uses the artistic medium to explore and deepen our relationship with life, with the environment, with people, and with the self, using all the combined artistic manifestations, mainly music, visual arts, dance, narrative, drama.

Art has the ability to promote human development in a comprehensive way. It uses the analytical and rational capacity of the left hemisphere together with the management of the sensitivity and emotions provided by the right cerebral hemisphere, achieving, with this combination, the possibility of full and balanced development.

Art is a natural medium by which children express their creativity. Creativity in childhood shapes a large part of what we will be in adulthood and is manifested in the child through the desire to discover, explore, try, experiment, look at and handle things in a different way. Through artistic expression, children learn about their surroundings and model parts of the other components of development such as socialization, strengthening academic skills and abilities, including math and literacy. In addition, art is one of the most important sources of stimulation and sensory development.
