Double Degree
Your passport for an international career
Study one year at Católica-Lisbon followed by a second year at the partner school of your choice.
Double Degree programs offer you the opportunity to gain in-depth international experience through two outstanding programs entirely taught in English. A cross-cultural educational journey that’s highly valued by recruiters and likely to increase your potential for an international career.
At the end of the program, you will be granted two diplomas, one from each school.
We do not recommend applications to a Double Degree program of your nationality (e.g. a German candidate should not apply to WHU).

Scholarships and Funding
Católica Top+ is a merit scholarship program for Master's students of all nationalities.
Implemented by Católica-Lisbon, this program allows high-potential students to complete their MSc with a partial waiver of tuition fees for the regular track of the program (3 semesters at our School; exchange semester excluded).
We encourage outstanding students to apply for this scholarship, especially those that have completed their first cycle degree at the top of their classes.
The following criteria are highly valued in the evaluation of the candidates for Católica Top+:
- Undergraduate academic record;
- International experience;
- Professional experience (e.g. internships);
- Extracurricular activities;
- Potential contribution to the community of Católica-Lisbon;
NOTE: Double Degree and Joint Degree students can only be granted a scholarship in the 1st year.
Curriculum
The International Master of Science in Finance is organized into Finance Core Courses, International Core Courses and Elective Courses, providing students with a balanced curriculum that blends theory and practice with a hands-on approach.
Pre-Courses
Católica-Lisbon offers to all students that enroll in the finance programs the possibility to complete pre-courses designed to strengthen the foundations in several key areas before the program starts:
- Advanced Excel
- Introduction to VBA
- Introduction to Finance
- Introduction to Accounting
These are mostly optional online courses that present a great degree of flexibility, adaptability to master student’s needs, and availability. To provide the best possible experience, students benefit from the help of an expert throughout each course. The Advanced Excel course prepares students to the Microsoft Excel Certification.
Program Coursework
The coursework for the International MSc in Finance consists of Finance Core Courses, International Core Courses, and Elective Courses. Apart from that, Career Accelerator Lab, LERNE Sessions, Professional Internship and Language Requirement are also part of this coursework.

Finance Core Courses
The Finance Core Courses are designed to consolidate your integrated view of the finance environment.

* Online course. It is recommended that students take it before the program starts. This module can be waived upon completion of an equivalent course.

*By the completion of the MSc degree, you must show evidence of proficiency in 3rd language other than English and your native language. You will have a selection of foreign language courses during your program. If proof of previously acquired proficiency in a third language is presented, this requirement is waived without granting ECTS.
International Experience
The International MSc in Finance program is designed to prepare you for an international career. Part of the program experience should be acquired abroad in a country other than Portugal or your home country. The international requirement is fulfilled by one of these three options:
- Double Degree. If admitted to the Double Degree, you will have the second year in the partner University. Please see the Double Degree section for more information.
- Master exchange semester in one of the Partner universities. The exchange semester always takes place in the 3rd semester of the program.
- International internship with a minimum duration of 6 weeks in a country other than your home or Portugal. Prior international internship of the same duration may be used to fulfill this requirement if it is completed within a year before the start of the program (after June 1st, 2022). The internship experience is subject to validation by the Careers and Talent Office.
Dissertation Semester
The Master's dissertation is the culmination of your master's program. This is when you build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to develop an individual project on a topic that resonates with your career aspirations and helps you excel in an area you find professionally relevant. At Católica-Lisbon there are two models for dissertation supervision – an Independent Process, or a project developed in the Dissertation Seminar.
Most of our students develop their industry or academic research in a dissertation seminar supervised by an expert in a specific area.
