The Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing was founded in 2005, by the government decision nr. 916/2005, regarding the organization of higher education institutions that are accredited or authorized to provisionally function, thus becoming the fourth faculty of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila”, alongside the traditional faculties of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy.
Today, students can specialize in 4 different fields by attending this faculty’s courses: Midwifery (4 years), General Nursing (4 years), Balneokinetophysiotherapy and rehabilitation (3 years) and dental techniques (3 years). Other 5 specializations are temporarily authorized: Pharmacy assistance, Dental assistance, Audiology and auditory prosthesis, Clinical laboratory, Radiology and Imaging (all lasting 3 years). Graduates of the Faculty of Midwifery and Healthcare Assistance specializations earn a Bachelor’s degree after they complete all their courses and pass the Bachelor exam.
The Midwifery and Nursing diplomas are regulated by the EU, being automatically recognized in all EU countries, according to the stipulations of the European directive nr. 2005/36/CE. Every year since its inauguration, the Faculty of Midwifery and Healthcare Assistance has enrolled students on the basis of an admission exam.
