Mission

Canadian University Dubai is committed to providing students with an international academic experience, guided by the highest educational and corporate ethics, adding value to the personal and professional lives of its graduates, and the communities in which we serve.

Mantra

Our mantra, ‘Inspiring minds, transforming lives’ guides our efforts in education, partnership, and community engagement, and throughout all of these endeavours, we uphold our core values.

Your first stop: the CUD Admissions team

Whether you’re a high school student looking for university options or a working professional looking for career development, the CUD Admissions team is here to help you make the right choice.

We can provide you with all the information you need about our undergraduate and graduate programs, your options for transfer to Canada, and our student services to help enhance your university experience, as well as answer any questions you may have about our admission requirements, fees and scholarships.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, and admissions are open for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible before your preferred semester start date, to ensure that it can be reviewed and processed in good time.

Student Visa

International and non-national students are eligible for a UAE Student Residence Visa sponsored by Canadian University Dubai. These visas are only issued to full-time students (students enrolled in 4 courses or more per semester) who have been accepted to the University and have paid the required deposits and fees.

Student visas are valid for a period of 12 months and renewable for the duration of the student’s program of study. Visas must be renewed or cancelled within an acceptable period before expiry while in the UAE. Failure to renew or cancel your visa accordingly may result in an 'absconding' status with UAE Immigration and forfeiture of your visa deposit.

Students with abscondment status will be dismissed from the university and returned to their home country.

Transfer of visas from other institutions is a lengthy process. Students should cancel their visa at their previous academic institution, and Canadian University Dubai will apply for a new visa.

Once all the documents are available, it takes a minimum of 3 working days to process the visa. Completion of medical and stamping of the visa on the passport takes a minimum of 10 additional working days.

The documents required are:

  • Color passport photocopy
  • 4 color passport photographs (Submitted with Application for Admission)
  • Letter of Acceptance from the University with course details and duration.

*Note that the University cannot guarantee that you will be granted a student visa.

International students at CUD

If you are an international student coming to study at Canadian University Dubai from overseas, the University can assist you with obtaining a student visa to allow you to reside in the UAE for the duration of your studies.

Applying for a visa

You can apply for a visa once you have paid your tuition fees by submitting an electronic, color passport copy and a photograph to your Admissions Officer, along with the relevant visa fee. The University will then apply for a visa on your behalf.

Please note that processing times vary, and you should submit your documentation at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the semester to ensure that your application can be handled in a timely manner.

When your application is approved, an electronic visa will be emailed to you prior to your departure from your home country to Dubai. Please ensure that you present this document to the immigration services upon your arrival in the UAE.

After arrival

Once you arrive in Dubai, you will have two weeks to complete the formalities to secure your residency in the UAE. This includes a medical examination at one of the Government’s designated clinics and submission of an Emirates ID card application.

You should then submit your original passport and photo, a copy of your electronic visa, your medical report, and a copy of your Emirates ID application at the visa services desk, located near the Admissions and Registration departments on the first floor of the CUD Hub Building, where you can also get more information and guidance about the process. Your visa will then be stamped, and you will be notified when it is ready for collection.

Visa renewal and cancellation

Once your visa is stamped, it will be valid for one year. You must ensure that you renew your visa before the expiry date. To do this, you will once again need to submit your original passport and photo, your medical report, and a copy of your Emirates ID application.

For visa cancellation, you should submit your original passport and Emirates ID, and ensure that you have an air ticket to leave the UAE, or have alternative arrangements for visa sponsorship. The University takes no responsibility for students who overstay their visa or commit any other visa violations, including any associated consequences. All students must abide by the rules and regulations of residency in the UAE.

At Canadian University Dubai, we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a quality Canadian education for all. We understand the importance of difference and diversity, and we do not want financial limitations or special needs to get in the way of your enrollment. To alleviate some of this concern and to reward high academic achievers, CUD offers the following scholarships:

Undergraduate

  • Academic Excellence Scholarship
  • Schools MoU Scholarship
  • Sports Scholarship
  • Financial Hardship Scholarship
  • Special Needs Scholarship
  • Special Talent Scholarship

Undergraduate and Graduate

  • Study Scholarship

Please note that the number of scholarships awarded is limited, and students must meet the minimum selection criteria for the relevant category in order for their application to be considered by the scholarship committee. The amount to be awarded depends on the specific criteria outlined for each scholarship.

Guiding Principles for Canadian University Dubai Scholarships

  • Scholarships are open to all students of any citizenship who have met all the admission requirements.
  • Scholarships are awarded to full-time students enrolled in four academic courses or more per semester. For Financial Hardship and Special Needs Scholarships, the number of academic courses students must enroll in will be considered on a case-by-case basis, although, where possible, a minimum of four academic courses is recommended. Please note that scholarships can be granted for credit-bearing courses only.
  • Students must maintain the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) necessary in order to continue receiving scholarship funding. The specific CGPA requirements vary according to the type of scholarship applied for. These details are outlined in the specific scholarship descriptions.
  • Scholarships are not valid for summer semesters.
  • Scholarships are only valid for current tuition fees.
  • Students can apply for more than one scholarship, provided they meet the eligibility requirements. In case a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship, or discount, the student will be given the chance to choose the scholarship with the highest value.
  • All remaining fees (tuition and housing) must be paid promptly in order to receive and maintain the scholarship.

Please note the following condition:

Scholarship recipients or those who qualify for a reduction in the cost of tuition may not appeal the decision of the University, or the percentage or amount of reduction assigned. The decision to grant or deny a reduction in cost is final.

Application Deadlines

  • The scholarship application deadline for the fall semester is July 7th.
  • The scholarship application deadline for the spring semester is December 20th.
  • Please note that late or incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered by the scholarship committee.
  • Applicants must email their scholarship application forms (or visit the scholarship section of Student Affairs), along with all supporting documents (as detailed in the relevant sections of the different scholarship types)

Student activities on campus

Our active campus life has consistently been a draw for new students. From performing arts, sports, technology, culture, or community engagement, we have something for every student at Canadian University Dubai. Here’s a snapshot of student activities at CUD:

Performance and Cultural Events

With 127 nationalities represented at Canadian University Dubai, there is a wide range of cultural events held throughout the year. These events celebrate the diverse heritage of our student population through food, fashion, art, music, and dance performances from countries all over the world. At all of these events, it is the students who play the main role in representing their own cultures. Such events include Global Day, Entertainment Nights, and the UAE and other countries' national day celebrations.

Community Involvement

Canadian University Dubai cultivates a strong working relationship with the surrounding community in Dubai, and one way in which students can give back to this community is by participating in fundraising activities. The Student Affairs department is responsible for planning numerous events, all of which have been extremely successful in raising awareness for current issues in the community and around the world. Past events include the Terry Fox Run, Movember, Autism Awareness, and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Clubs & Activities

We encourage students to participate in one of the many existing student clubs, as well as provide support in forming new clubs linked to other areas of interest. Some of the current clubs include:

Dance Club

Dancers from different disciplines and backgrounds exchange the culture of their craft and create never-before-seen fusions on stage.

Drama Club

The Drama Club brings together talented students, be they writers, actors, directors, make-up artists, or designers. The Club holds its own workshops, teaching students how to act, and is working towards the creation of its own full-length CUD Theatre show.

Model United Nations

The Model United Nations (MUN) is an association where students step into the world of a United Nations delegate to debate solutions to some of the world's most pressing global challenges. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about international issues, diplomacy, and intergovernmental relations, and develop skills in critical thinking, research, and debate.

Music Club

The Music Club provides a meeting ground for vocalists, percussionists, practitioners of stringed instruments, and more to come together and understand other forms of music and to collaborate with each other. The club also invites writers and poets to come and develop songs that can be written and performed on stage.

Robotics Club

The CUD Robotics Club brings together students from across the University to work together in the creation of working robots, providing a fun way to develop new skills and to explore the future of technology, while meeting other students from around the University.
