Introduction

Accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the online Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education 8-12 Social Studies program from Campbellsville University delivers the skills you need to prepare high school students for college and the workforce through innovative and effective teaching methods. To become an expert in your chosen field of study, the program allows you to choose from tracks in English, math, science and social studies. When you graduate, you’ll earn the required certification to teach your desired subject and excel in current trends that are positively changing education.

Regardless of the track you choose, you’ll receive academic support and guidance from a faculty of experts with diverse teaching experience who follow Campbellsville’s faith-based curriculum. As you complete your degree, you’ll study the physical, cognitive and social development of children and adolescents, as well as the technical tools available to enhance the learning experience of your students. In addition to your courses, you will also be required to apply your new teaching skills in an academic setting through a graduate practicum/seminar. Students who are not currently working as teachers, including those taking the Option 6 route, must complete 16 weeks of student teaching in a high school classroom.

As you pursue your passion for education and complete your M.A. in Teaching, you’ll have unlimited access to Campbellsville’s interactive, online classroom. Choose from flexible course options, discuss course materials with educators, share ideas with classmates and access your courses without ever attending class on campus.
