Introduction

Geoscientists explore for natural resources, like metal ores, industrial minerals and fossil fuels. They map and monitor changes in nature, from landscapes and climate to the Earth system as a whole. As a geoscientist you’ll explore new resources, unlock the potential of new landscapes, and return the environment to its original state.

You’ll learn to interpret the landscape and its hazards—monitoring, evaluating, correcting and eliminating large scale issues such as landslides, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and flooding. You’ll work with the landscape to ensure that plans are not in conflict with natural hazards and environmental processes.
