Level 1 Diploma in Skills for Engineering

For young people interested in a career in engineering who intend to access level 2 qualifications or a level 2 apprenticeship but need a comprehensive learning programme at level 1 before they will be ready to access level 2 This qualification provides you with a comprehensive range of introductory skills, as well as core knowledge, relevant to engineering, alongside generic employability skills which are needed both in engineering and across other sectors.

Alongside generic employability skills (such as time-management and effective communication in the workplace). Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of Engineering and this will be reinforced throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade 4 or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements. In addition to the Specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers. During tutorials we will develop your Employability skills, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills and together with your Specialist skills and qualification, this will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.
