Key Summary
The programme adopts an interdisciplinary approach, designed to explore the multi-faceted variety of ancient civilizations, with an emphasis on cultural intersections, contacts and tensions. This innovative comparative approach will enable students to understand the role of ancient civilizations in today’s society, with its complexity and challenges.
Students can benefit from a wide range of expertise, research and teaching within both Universities, which are located in two exceptionally stimulating. With their unique combination of tradition and innovation, past and present, ancient and modern, Venice and Milan represent an ideal framework for studying Cultural Heritage and an exceptionally rich added value in terms of pedagogic experience.
The programme aims to provide a basic, solid knowledge and training in the management and promotion of the tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage of several civilizations of the past, which flourished in Europe, north Africa, Eastern and Western Asia.
The programme covers four intertwined areas:
- Tangible Cultural Heritage: history and interpretation;
- Tangible Cultural Heritage: discovering, cataloguing, preserving and archiving;
- Intangible Cultural Heritage: history, anthropology, philosophy, history of religions, law;
- Intangible Cultural Heritage: languages and literatures.

This bachelor's programme prepares graduates to find employment as cultural operators in charge of various services such as:
- Figure responsible for the management and/or implementation of reception services at archaeological sites, museums, exhibitions, or other cultural associations, foundations, or similar bodies and institutions;
- Collaborator in the cataloging of cultural heritage in foundations, cultural associations, auction houses, or similar bodies and institutions;
- Assistant Curator in the organization of exhibitions and cultural events;
- Excavation Technician or Assistant;
- Museum Technician.
Furthemore, graduates will be able to find employment as cultural communicators and consultants for the publishing sector, also digital, in press offices of companies, museums, galleries, public institutions, marketing and communication agencies; and as Consultant for the entertainment industry with a historical-cultural setting.
