Introduction

Educating youth through the critical years of adolescence, middle school teachers have a one-of-a-kind professional calling.The middle grades education program at Carson-Newman prepares you to be licensed as a grades 68 teacher, completing all training to graduate with a Tennessee teaching license. Coursework in the major combines a broad study of liberal arts including economics, social studies, math and science with a comprehensive professional education curriculum. The 6-8 Middle Grades licensure programs were part of the most recent joint review conducted by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Tennessee Department of Education.
