Key Summary
This MSc provides students with the ability to apply a business perspective towards developing sustainable goals.
Understand the scale and nature of sustainability as a global issue and how this varies across the global north and south. You will recognise the key enabling and constraining, political and institutional contexts which affect sustainable business practice.

Course unit details
During the course you will be taking 180 credits in all. The eight taught modules during semester one and two total 120 credits.
Over the summer period, you will have the opportunity to complete either an individual dissertation or group sustainable business research project, both worth 60 credits.

ISEP accredited course
Sustainable Business is accredited by The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) – formerly known as IEMA. All students enrolled on the course will benefit from free student membership to the ISEP as well as support with future careers and a head start for future leaders in sustainability.
You will also:
- Identify how a sustainable business perspective can support the development of solutions to foster sustainability transitions
- Evaluate research on societal transitions towards meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the role of a sustainable business perspective within this
- Apply problem-solving skills individually and collaboratively to produce compelling arguments for actionable solutions to sustainability challenges
- Collaborate and develop effective team dynamics and project management processes
- Evaluate global sustainability challenges and compare various perspectives on how societies can respond to them

This course is a 12 month full-time course, based in Manchester. All our MSc courses are taught in Manchester only; they are not available to study online.
Teaching and Learning
The course will combine face-to-face sessions with online digital resources. Classes will feature debates, role-play, real-world cases and live projects. An international cohort of students will work independently and in teams, building networks of future sustainability leaders.
