Our music degrees offer a diversity of career and graduate school options in both music and non-music areas.
The Department of Music equips students with in-depth knowledge and skills to be successful in their careers. Music faculty combines diversity of instruction with personal passion to educate and inspire students within a vibrant atmosphere that supports strong academics, performance, and personal achievement, grounded on Christian principles of service and excellence.
Degree Details
- BMus: Music Performance (4-year):ย Designed for students desiring an advanced foundation in musical skills, knowledge, and performance, with goals of self-employment and/or professional performing and/or graduate school paths (music and non-music options).
- BA in Music: Biomedical Track (4-year):ย Designed specifically for students desiring to pursue both a music major and entrance preparation to post-graduate, biomedical programs (e.g. medicine, dentistry, etc.).
- BA Music: Music Therapy Track (4-year):ย Designed for students desiring an advanced foundation in musical skills, knowledge, and performance, and 1) who have the desire to pursue graduate training in Music Therapy, or 2) who desire an additional skill set for self-employment in human services e.g. working with children, youth, elderly, substance use, rehabilitation, etc.
- BA in Music (4-year):ย Designed for students desiring a solid foundation in musical skills, knowledge, and performance, with goals of self-employment and/or after-degree and graduate school paths (music and non-music options).
- BA in Music (3-year):ย Designed for students desiring a competent foundation in musical skills and knowledge, with goals of self-employment and/or continuing education certificate and diploma programs. Not intended for post-graduate degree track, though there are limited graduate degree options depending on program and country (music and non-music options).
Applied Areas:ย Classical guitar, harpsichord, organ, percussion, piano, strings (violin, viola, cello, and double bass), voice, woodwinds (flute, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon), and brass (trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba/euphonium).

Program delivery
There is an opportunity for students to tour across North America and the world with the Choral Union, the Symphony Orchestra, or Ubuntu Choir. The Burman University Choral Union has performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of their summer tour.
