Introduction

This course is specially designed for international students whose first language is not English. It will help you develop an understanding of science and engineering concepts, and provide you with extra academic support to help with admission to undergraduate courses.

You will practise a range of transferable explanatory and evaluative skills. You will learn how to apply these skills, as well as your expertise in academic reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Course Structure & Teaching Methods

You will choose from a selection of modules, each worth 40 credits. Your choice will be based upon your academic background and your intended degree program. You will need to gain a total of 140 credits to successfully complete the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a mixture of regular coursework and assessments during and at the end of each module.

Progression Opportunities

Successful completion of the course guarantees you a place at the University of Reading. Students may progress to a number of other Universities, including Kingston University, London.

Entry Requirements

  • It is expected that students will have completed 2 or 3 years of high or senior secondary school with a high level of attainment in subject related subjects.
  • UKVI approved IELTS English Language certificate must be 5.0 overall with no band below 5.0.

*Students with a high academic performance but with an overall IELTS score of below 5.0 may be offered the opportunity tojoin one of our English support courses that will allow you to meet our English entry requirements.
