Key Summary
Introduction
Become an expert in modern communications and networking technologies!
Do you want to understand the technical details of communication and networking technologies and be able to solve various theoretical and practical problems in areas including 4G/5G mobile and fixed communications, metallic, optical or wireless networks, advanced network devices, telecommunication and multimedia services, Internet of Things, smart city applications, machine learning algorithms, cybersecurity mechanisms, and high-speed data transmissions?
We have a great opportunity for you to apply for the two-year Master's Program in Communications and Networking (MPA-CAN), which aims to prepare its graduates with an in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in modern telecommunications and information technology. Upon completion of the program, you will be qualified to design and operate modern ICT equipment and systems.
The study program Communications and Networking (MPAD-CAN) can be studied as a double-degree program in cooperation with the Tampere University (TAU) in Finland. This gives students a unique opportunity to spend one semester (minimum) during their master's degree at Tampere University. Moreover, in the end, when students pass all the exams and defend their master's thesis (coordinated jointly by the supervisors from BUT and TAU), they can take advantage of the opportunity to obtain two master's diplomas (one from BUT and the other from TAU).
Keywords: Communication, Networking, Electronic, BUT, Master
The two-year study program in English COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING (MPAd-CAN) in the master’s degree program at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication (FEEC) BUT aims to educate MSc graduates with a profound theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of modern telecommunications and information technologies that are also qualified in light-current electronics and communication technology and can apply this knowledge in the design of new appliances and systems. The core courses include subjects in theoretical and practical information technology, multimedia, communication technology, and electronics.
The study of this program can be commenced only after the students have completed the bachelor’s degree program and passed the bachelor’s final state examination, preferably in a program oriented towards electrical engineering or information technology.
Education in this program of study is provided primarily by the Department of Telecommunications (UTKO). The offer of optional courses along with an individual semestral project and the thesis enable students to focus more closely on the area of mobile and fixed communications, metallic, optical or wireless networks, modern network technology appliances, telecommunication services, multimedia, internet technologies, and their services, Internet of things IoT, smart technology, security methods, and high-speed multimedia transmission. Students also gain knowledge of digital filters, signal processors, multimedia signal processing, and the design of electronic circuits and systems. The graduates will be able to work with user interfaces, use parallel processes in operation systems, and ensure the security of information systems. Depending on their individual choice, students will be thoroughly acquainted with digital methods of processing and transmission of speech, sound, and image signals. They will be introduced to the design and realization of computer networks, database systems, and distributed applications such as diverse information technologies. To improve the student’s understanding of theory, courses within the theoretical extension in higher Mathematics are provided. Students can also choose technical courses from the program MPA-TEC Telecommunications provided by the Department of Radio Electronics (UREL), English for Engineers, and management courses from the Faculty of Business and Management.
