An adequate supply of mineral products at acceptable prices is indispensable to modern industrialisation. Mining engineering involves the practice, theory, science, technology and application of extracting and processing of mineral resources economically and in a sustainable manner. It also includes the processing of minerals for value addition purposes. This course is designed to produce engineers capable of designing, operating and managing mining operation.

This course will enable you to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about all relevant mining processes, from exploration to production including management and environmental issues. The programme positions you to contribute positively to the expansion of the mining industry in Botswana and the surrounding region. Mining Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that includes elements of geological, civil, mechanical and materials engineering. You will learn how to carry out mining efficiently and safely while ensuring sustainability and minimal environmental impact.
