About : The BASE Mountain Biking course focuses on developing advanced mountain biking skills. Students will engage in practical sessions that cover technical riding, bike mechanics, and trail navigation. The program is designed for riders who want to enhance their performance and experience in diverse terrains.
Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue a variety of career paths, including mountain biking instructor, trail guide, or bike technician. Opportunities also exist in the outdoor recreation industry and sports coaching. This program equips students with the skills needed for roles in adventure tourism and community cycling initiatives.
This programme allows students to gain a suite of qualifications at SCQF Level 6 whilst developing their mountain biking skills, including NPA Achieving Excellence in Sport and SQA units in Psychology, Circuit Training, and Planning Personal Fitness. Part of the course delivery will provide students with the opportunity to be coached by staff from the Dirt School at the world-class mountain biking facility at Glentress, Peebles.
