Key Summary

About: The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre focuses on building foundational skills in performance, design, and direction. This program emphasizes both classic and contemporary theatre practices, preparing students for various roles in the performing arts. Through a mix of practical experience and theoretical study, you'll develop a unique artistic voice while collaborating with peers and instructors in a supportive environment.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as actors, directors, stage managers, or costume designers. Other opportunities include work in theatre administration, education, and film and television production. Further studies in drama or arts management are also viable paths.

If theatre is your thing, our bachelor’s degree program in theatre will help you become a well-rounded artist. Our theatre students work on five major productions on the Harman Auditorium stage each year. Productions range from two children’s theatre offerings to literary classics and Christian drama. As a theatre major, you’ll learn essential skills in rigorous coursework and through hands-on opportunities in production, design, and construction.

Theatre is a collaborative art form bringing together a tight-knit group of student-artists who enjoy personal attention from our faculty. As theatre practitioners, we are as energized by sharing our craft as we are moved by guiding students. While few theatre majors achieve Hollywood or Broadway success, no matter where they study, Bluefield’s theatre degree prepares you to follow your passion. After graduation, you might produce children’s theatre, perform in a regional repertory company, teach drama or attend graduate school. It’s time to see where theatre can take you. It’s time to explore all that BC’s theatre major has to offer. We’d love to meet with you when you visit campus!
