Introduction
The MBA programme is designed for working engineers who want to take the next step in their career. You’ll strengthen your ability to take on leadership roles – as a project manager, team leader or business developer – and learn how to combine your technical skills with business and strategic perspectives.
The programme runs online and part-time over two years, making it possible to study while working. It gives you the freedom to learn on your own terms – but also the responsibility to plan and drive your studies forward.
Courses that build your expertise
The programme includes six courses and a degree project, all focused on linking technology with business in an engineering context. You’ll study topics such as:
- strategy and business development
- organisation and leadership
- finance and financial analysis
The courses are practical and connected to real-life situations you may face in your career – like leading change, making investment decisions or developing an organisation.
Digital learning with a global reach
The programme is delivered entirely online through BTH’s learning platform. There you can:
- access lectures and course materials
- connect with teachers and classmates
- join discussions and submit assignments
You’ll study alongside participants from around the world. This gives you experience in cross-cultural collaboration and a chance to build an international network – valuable both during and after the programme.
Degree

Evolve Your Career as an Engineer
The programme suits professionally active engineers who want to advance their careers, especially towards more leading roles in projects or organisations. Since the study programme runs part-time and on distance, you can combine studies with work.
Specific Courses to Optimise Your Degree
The programme consists of six courses and a degree project to develop your ability to integrate technological and economic skills in an engineering context. The courses included in the programme cover subjects such as strategy, finance and management.
International Experience and Borderless Networks
Each year, students from all over the world come to BTH to study MBA. This gives our students intercultural skills when working on group assignments and projects. At the same time, you will develop an international network that creates new possibilities after graduation.
You will use the learning platform Canvas to complete your studies. The platform is used to post information, access pre-recorded lectures or links to Zoom live lectures, participate in online discussions and submit assignments, among other things.

Evaluations and advisory board
The study programmes at BTH are continuously monitored and developed through yearly follow-up dialogues, course evaluations after each completed course, and programme evaluations. Results from follow-ups and evaluations can lead to changes in the programmes. These changes are always communicated to the students.
Each educational programme is tied to an advisory board that discusses issues such as the quality of the programme, its development, and relevance for the labour market. In the advisory board, or a committee to the advisory board, teachers, external members, students and alumni are represented.

Scholarships and Funding
BTH scholarship programme for prospective students
BTH scholarship programme for prospective students is available for citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are required to pay tuition fees for a Swedish university education. Students can only apply for this scholarship before commencing a programme. Applicants to distance education at BTH are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The Swedish Institute Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM for Prospective Students
The Swedish Institute Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM is open to female citizens from eligible countries and applies to designated master’s programmes starting in the autumn semester of 2025. Eligible applicants can only apply for this scholarship before commencing the programme. Applicants must also be required to pay tuition fees for a Swedish university education.
BTH scholarship programme for current students
- Students who are already enrolled and registered in a campus programme at BTH and have at least two semesters of the nominal study time left can apply for this scholarship.
- You also have to be required to pay tuition fee for the remaining part of your programme.
- The scholarships will cover your tuition fee in part, and do not cover your living costs.
BTH will award a number of scholarships corresponding to partial reduction of the tuition fee to students with excellent academic performance during the first part of their studies at Blekinge Institute of Technology.
