Visa Requirements
From EU, EEA or Switzerland
- No visa required
- For stays more than 3 months: Register your German address with the German authorities
- For Swiss citizens staying more than 3 months: Apply fo a residence permit for Swiss nationals at the local Immigration Office
Non-EU citizens
- In general, a visa is required
- Citizens from certain countries can enter Germany without a visa but have to apply for a residence permit at the local Immigration Office if they stay for more than 3 months in Germany
- All other students need to apply for a student visa at the German missions in their home country. n the website of the German Federal Foreign Office, you can find the addresses of all German missions to find the one responsible for you.

Please keep in mind that the visa application process will take some time, likely several months. Make sure to apply in due time to be able to come to Germany at the beginning of your studies.
