Key Summary
The MSc International Accounting and Finance is for students with an analytical mindset who want to understand how to make the financial decisions that shape corporate success. With a blend of academic rigour and practical application, the course equips you with technical skills and strategic decision-making ability that employers value.
In Term 1, students enrolled in the MSc International Accounting and Finance (IAF) programme will have the opportunity to remain in the standard IAF pathway or transfer to the MSc IAF with Management pathway (IAFM). The IAFM pathway provides a cross-disciplinary learning experience by integrating advanced accounting and finance training with broader managerial and leadership development. This combination equips students with versatile, transferable skills that enhance their employability across a wide range of sectors, both within and beyond the accounting and finance sectors. The IAFM pathway is particularly well suited to students seeking to cultivate entrepreneurial capabilities and gain a more holistic understanding of the business environment and decision-making across the full corporate cycle.
You will graduate with the technical depth, programming fluency and applied experience to thrive in international accounting and finance. Specifically you will:
- Build a comprehensive foundation. Gain a broad understanding of accounting and finance before specialising in your chosen area, or choose a balance of both. You can also choose to specialise in corporate management via the Management pathway , while retaining your core finance and accounting knowledge.
- Develop core skills. Learn how to prepare, interpret and analyse financial accounts for business decision making. Develop the analytical tools to evaluate and execute complex corporate finance transactions, apply methods for assessing financial risks, and judge how financial data shapes company performance and valuation.
- Think globally and strategically. Build insight into how financial figures reflect and influence the strategic management of international firms. Gain a strong grasp of the fundamentals behind international capital flows and develop a critical appreciation of the complexities of decision making needed to achieve superior performance in a global setting.
