Achieving your potential weekend
Experiential learning is the process of making meaning from direct experience, active experimentation, and reflective observation.
Run over the course of a weekend and purposefully held off campus, this event takes students away from a typical working or study environment, giving EMBA students the opportunity to:
- Think in detail about potential career transitions: defining where they are now, where they want to be, and how they are going to get there.
- Take ownership of career transitions; set specific goals to support their achievement
- Discover / re-discover strengths and how they can be harnessed to enable/accelerate personal and professional development
- Consider energy and how to manage this purposefully in a career context.
Business Integration Project
During the second year, you will draw on the many elements of the programme in the Business Integration Project, a major piece of self-managed work. It is an opportunity to demonstrate expertise and a skill set gained during the programme and transition into the next stage of your career.
It can be presented in multiple ways: a research project on your organisation, addressing a strategic problem for a specific industry, or a business plan. All geared towards you taking the next positive step in your career path, you tap into the Bayes Business expertise from our faculty over 9-12 months and deliver an industry-specific project.
Recent projects have included:
- An exploration in Blockchain and syndicated lending operations
- How to create shareholder value performance through strategic mergers and acquisitions
- Undertaking an empirical analysis of capital structure and Government debt in Europe
- Focusing on cleantech in European and U.S. venture capital: a comparison of investments and exits across industries and countries
- The impact of digitisation and insurtech on the London insurance market
- Understanding ‘ethical political leadership’ in Mauritius
- Comparing sectors' commitment to renewable energy
- Entrepreneurship culture and co-working spaces.
From the start of term, the Careers Team will be available to support you throughout your journey at Bayes. Through one-to-one coaching, professional development workshops, and the 'Achieving Your Potential' weekend, we'll work with you to explore and achieve your professional goals and develop your executive presence.
Our team brings invaluable expertise to your journey, drawing from their real-world experience in diverse commercial backgrounds such as recruitment, occupational psychology, coaching, and leadership across various industries.
Our support is tailored to your individual needs and career aspirations. Through our self-assessment sessions, we help you evaluate your strengths, motivations, and values, aligning them with your professional development objectives.
Based on this assessment and your interests, you can select from a variety of workshops, sector overviews, online resources, and coaching sessions to tailor your experience and develop key skills. Additionally, you can meet with our career coaches to refine your future career plans.
