- Develop a theology of spirituality by integrating insights from Scripture, theology, and related disciplines in the humanities and behavioral sciences.
- Evaluate the dynamics of spiritual life in the context of multicultural life and ministry.
- Synthesize and apply the theories of spiritual formation to personal spiritual growth and the task of ministry through experience-oriented learning strategies, ascertaining how individuals form habits that facilitate spiritual growth.

Career Opportunities
- Post-Secondary Philosophy and Religion Teachers - Teach courses in philosophy, religion, and theology. Includes both professors who are primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research.
- Clergy - Conduct religious worship and perform other spiritual functions associated with beliefs and practices of religious faith or denomination. Provide spiritual and moral guidance and assistance to members.
- Directors, Religious Activities and Education - Coordinate or design programs and conduct outreach activities to promote religious education or activities of a denominational group. May provide counseling, guidance, and leadership regarding marital, health, financial, and religious issues.
