The Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching is a foundation course designed to prepare students to become professional yoga teachers. This 12-month course is structured into practical and theory sessions, providing you with the essential skills to teach yoga effectively and authentically.
This course focuses on teaching yoga at a basic to intermediate level in group settings or one-on-one sessions. You will gain knowledge and skills to lead yoga classes incorporating practices like pranayama, mindfulness, and meditation within the context of yoga philosophy. You will learn to apply anatomy and physiology to promote health and well-being, sequence progress through postures, use effective instructional techniques, and ensure proper postural alignment. The course also focuses on aspects of yoga business practices, including researching and developing business plans, establishing and managing client relationships, developing networks and partnerships, and understanding ethical standards within the yoga industry.

Practical Training
Our Melbourne and Sydney campuses are equipped with on-site yoga studios for hands-on training. Our Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching offers a balanced curriculum, combining in-depth theory with practical experience. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, health and safety, and client relations while developing their yoga practice under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.
ALG is proud to share that we are partnered with Yoga Australia. Yoga Australia is the peak body for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, yoga teacher trainers, and yoga therapy trainers in Australia. On successful completion of this course, you will also qualify to register as a Level 1 accredited teacher with Yoga Australia – 300 hours of training.

This course is timetabled for 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment across 4 terms of 10 weeks, and 12 weeks of holidays. Each week, you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week of self-directed learning should be set aside for homework. A plan for self-directed learning will be provided for a 10-week period that outlines your learning activities in preparation for assessment requirements.

Training: Training takes place on campus. In Brisbane, training occurs on campus as well as at Stretch Yoga, located at Level 2/129 Margaret Street in Brisbane city.
Assessments: Assessments include written short question answers, case studies, presentations, role plays and practical demonstrations in a simulated environment, and projects.
