Massage Therapy program prepares students for entry-level massage therapist positions to provide relief and improved health and well-being to clients through the application of manual techniques for manipulating skin, muscles, and connective tissues. The program includes instructions in anatomy & physiology, pathology, business marketing, ethical practice to provide relief and improved health and well-being to clients through the application of manual techniques for manipulating skin, muscles, and connective tissues. Includes instruction in anatomy & physiology, pathology, business marketing, ethical practice, Thai massage, Shiatsu massage, deep tissue massage, therapeutic massage, sports massage, and foot reflexology among many other techniques widely used by massage therapists.

  • Anatomy & Physiology & Neurology I
  • Anatomy & Physiology & Neurology II
  • Pathology
  • Myology & Kinesiology
  • Hygiene, First Aid, CPR, Ethical Practice
  • Fundamentals of Western & Eastern Massage
  • Therapeutic Thai & Shiatsu Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Sports Massage
  • Externship


Upon successful completion of this program, graduates are awarded a completion certificate.

The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) was created to implement a statewide certification program with clear standards of preparation and education, enabling massage professionals to obtain one of two certification levels:

  • Certified Massage Therapist (CMT)- Required to complete at least 500 hours of massage education and training at a CAMTC approved massage therapy school and pass a CAMTC approved massage exam.
  • Certified Massage Practitioner (CMP)- Generally must complete at least 250 hours of education and training.

Prerequisite

individuals with a high school diploma, GED, or college degree are eligible to apply. Each applicant must take an entrance exam (consists of math and English) to enter their program of study at the college.


Class Schedule

Day Classes: 10 months, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Evening Classes: 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
