Students in AU's online Executive MBA will soon be able to access the U of A School of Business's unparalleled content expertise in the natural resources and energy sectors.

Starting in March 2006, the following three U of A electives will be available to AU MBA students (including MBA in Information Technology Management and MBA in Project Management students) who wish to tailor their studies to the energy industry:

The Energy Industries and Markets:Canada and Beyond (online)
This course provides an introduction to the energy industries in Alberta, Canada and worldwide. Students acquire an understanding of the various energy sectors (coal, oil, natural gas and electricity), market and technology fundamentals, and the similarities and differences among sectors.

Environmental Management:Problems and Solutions (online)
This exploration of environmental issues from a managerial and policy perspective concentrates on the root causes for market failures. Students are introduced to standard policy tools (most notably market-based instruments) and benefit-cost analysis as it applies to environmental management.

* Energy Regulation, Law and Policy
(in residence at the U of A campus in Edmonton)
This course offers an overview of regulatory, legal and policy frameworks in energy markets. Students explore Canadian and U.S. energy policy issues, paying particular attention to impacts on Canadian energy supply and demand as well as industry development.
