Key Summary
The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy lasts for four academic years for a total of 240 ECTS. The degree years programme provides its students with knowledge and skills based on the highest educational standards in clinical and rehabilitation settings. The students will acquire these skills through a clinically practical and evidence-based medical training course.
Our faculty consists of lecturers who have distinguished themselves in clinical practice as well as in research.
The students will have the opportunity to do their internship in Malta, Italy, the UK and in other European countries. This is of great importance as the opportunity to experience different clinical scenarios is an essential part for developing a successful future professional career.
Teaching activities and lectures will be delivered classroom in Malta. The internship will be held in Malta or elsewhere at the premises of other accredited institutions and clinical partners all over Europe.
Accreditation
The Bachelor Science (Hons) Physiotherapy is fully accredited by Asomi College of Sciences HEI – Higher Education Institution with License 009-2020 MFHEA.
The Malta Further Higher Education Authority MFHEA deems this degree programme to be at level 6 of the Malta Qualification Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning.
The students joining the programme will be targeted in 2 different groups:
- This group will be made up of students aged 18 to 25 years old who have completed their high school diploma and are interested in developing a career as a physiotherapist.
- This group will be made up of students aged 21 to 50 years old that have completed a prior academic path which led them to a degree in some other fields (sport science, sport therapy, biology, health professionals (i.e. nurses, osteopaths, occupational therapist, midwife, nutritionist) and are interested in implementing their professional activities or to start a new career as a physiotherapist. The previous knowledge will be taken into consideration for the recognition of credits in the programme.

The learner will be able to:
- Apply the principles of good communication
- Identify the best approach for each situation in the professional context
- Manage properly the communication with the patients
- Demonstrate good conversation skills with colleagues and other professionals
- Master the basics of interpersonal communications and how to apply these concepts to the profession
- Manage presentation techniques with efficacy and simplicity
- Fluently write in English about all the topics that characterise the programme
- Explain technical topics to a non-technical audience
- Communicate with the patient, showing comprehension and awareness
- Write a scientific piece of work (including the concepts of paraphrasing, summarising, synthesizing, and referencing)
- Show good listening skills, useful both for professional and personal life
Graduates in Physiotherapy have several career prospects.
They can look forward to working in hospitals, both public and private, the National Health Service, or private studies and practice.
Physiotherapy can be applied to multiple fields, such as sports, leisure, care of the elderly, and, of course, research and teaching, which are absolutely relevant not only for one’s own career but for the whole professional category.
The graduates will also have the chance to continue and deepen their education with a Master of Science.
