Doctor of Philosophy in Technology
Our Ph.D. programme in Technology will focus primarily on creative research. Graduate students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members on a wide variety of exciting research projects. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in Technology will focus primarily on creative research. Graduate students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members on a wide variety of exciting research projects. Excellent opportunities are available for students to be immersed in a vibrant research-intensive environment. The objective of this programme is to generate new knowledge necessary for the development of countries in the region and to prepare graduate students for challenging careers in industry/ academia/research and development (R&D) organizations in the global economy.
Duration of Programme
This programme leads to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). A student who has a masterβs degree in Technology Information Pack Asian University must complete the programme within a specified period of not less than five semesters and not more than six academic years. A student who has only a bachelorβs degree must complete the programme within a specified period of not less than seven semesters and not more than eight academic years.
Curriculum Structure
The Ph.D. programme comprises an interrelated set of βsubjectsβ arranged in a progressive sequence. Individually taught courses are typically designed to carry a credit value of 3 credits each and will run through a single semester. A student who has a masterβs degree must study a grand total of 60 credits comprising 12 credits of taught courses and 48 credits of thesis. A student who has only a bachelorβs degree must study a grand total of 84 credits comprising 12 credits of taught courses and 72 credits of thesis.
Entrance Requirements
All applicants must satisfy the following general entrance requirements before being admitted to Asian University.
At the time of admission, the applicant must possess:
- a bachelorβs degree in technological areas including sciences, engineering or related fields with a minimum GPA of 3.25 or a masterβs degree in technological areas including sciences, engineering or related fields with a very good academic record and/or thesis experience from an accredited university in Thailand, or another internationally recognized university;
- proficiency in the English language.
