Introduction
Do you have a passion for languages and people? For everything that has to do with the digital world? Do you wish to broaden your horizons and step outside your comfort zone? The world is your playground! Welcome to the English bachelor's program International Organisation and Management!
What will you learn?
The International Organisation and Management program is unique in Belgium! Artevelde University of Applied Sciences is the only institution that offers this professional bachelor's degree program entirely taught in English. This study program combines general business courses with intensive language training.
In addition to the subjects specific to Business & Languages, we will immerse you in fields such as Intercultural Communication Skills and Process and Lean Management.
With this broad background, you can occupy a vital role in any (international) company!
What to expect?
International practice
The theory is good. Practice is better! We have all it takes to inspire you: you can expect an internship abroad in your final semester, numerous company visits and guest lectures, groundbreaking field trips abroad, internationally oriented cases, and virtual collaborations in international classrooms.
Internationally-minded fellow students
Artevelde University of Applied Sciences relies on a broad network of partner institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. This enables attractive and enriching exchanges. Your fellow students come from diverse backgrounds and roots and have a decidedly global worldview. This an excellent opportunity to improve your language skills, hear other points of view, and work together on cases and projects.
Personal approach
Your program focuses on elementary business skills and attitudes, such as a hands-on approach and a flexible attitude. To facilitate your learning process, you can take many classes in small groups.
Broad focus on business and languages
Speaking in tongues
A natural-born linguist? Then you should consider this program! Learn to communicate like a pro in English and two other foreign languages. Opt for German, Spanish, French, or Chinese. Or join another foreign language course of your choice at an external accredited institution. Follow your heart and pick up Korean, Arabic, Swedish, or any language that tickles your fancy.
Do I need to be fluent in English?
As International Organisation and Management are taught entirely in English, you must master them sufficiently. You can prove your language level through one of our own language screenings or provide us with a certificate of our approved language skills tests.
What about other languages?
If you pick French as one of your foreign languages, make sure to have an intermediate level already. You do not need specific prior knowledge of any foreign language, just a keen interest in learning and a can-do attitude.
Digital is key
In a rapidly changing digital world, knowing how to deal with the latest information and media tools is crucial. Working in the cloud, starting up e-commerce, or even developing a basic website will all be part of your study track. Of course, you do not need to become a computer expert. But being passionate about social media, creative digital, and office software will give you a great head start. No wonder these topics are vital ingredients in your International Organisation and Management program.

Curriculum
First Year
Throughout the year, the course Talent and Management Development will help you to survive your journey in higher education. These workshops and coaching sessions will support your search on how to plan and organise your studies, work in teams, give and receive feedback, etc. You will also discover your strengths and points of improvement, which will help you make future decisions. In addition, you will learn about management in general and do a one-day internship in an international company of your choice to discover how the theory is translated into practice.
In the first year of the programme, you get a variety of general business courses to ensure you are ready to kick-start your career as an international office manager. In International Organisation and Management, you will choose two foreign languages from the offer of French, German, Spanish, Chinese or Dutch (first two levels only).
Thanks to ICT Toolkit, you will discover the ins and outs of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
Courses like Intercultural Communication Skills will train your skills to succeed in a globalised world. Discover what cultures have in common and what makes them different. You will become aware of your cultural background and learn how to cope and network with people in intercultural environments.
In the second semester, you will study the basics of Economics and Visual Design. In the latter, you will learn to work with Photoshop and InDesign. You also immediately get the international component in courses like Law and Marketing Management.

Second Year
In year 2, you will further expand your skills and knowledge through the unique approach of modules. In each module, you take a deep dive into trending topics, such as project, process and lean management. After 8 weeks of class, challenges, guest lectures, company visits, assessments and more, you have completed the module and move on to the next.
With this approach, you tackle real challenges from the field and dedicate your focus to one subject at a time, next to deepening your proficiency of your chosen foreign languages. A great way to develop the skills to successfully work in an international setting.
Last but not least, you can join one of the study trips organised by our enthusiastic staff in the second year. Destinations students visited in the past include China, Berlin, San Francisco, Denmark, Poland and Spain. Alternatively, you can design your own study trip.
