Introduction

The Master of Divinity (MDiv) at Aquinas Institute of Theology provides a comprehensive theological education in the Roman Catholic tradition that will prepare you to meet an evolving ministerial environment and needs of our modern and global Church. In this academically rigorous and spiritually grounded program, you will learn to attend to our Church's needs with leadership honed to promote social change in service of the common good. The curriculum includes coursework in Biblical studies, historical, systematic, moral, and pastoral theology and preaching and liturgical leadership, Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), and Supervised Practice of Ministry (SPM).

The MDiv program offers you the unique opportunity to study preaching with the Dominicans - the Order of Preachers - who directs the only Catholic Doctor of Ministry in Preaching program in the world. The 16 credits of supervised ministry experiences in the program will allow you to explore a wide variety of future ministries and help you build concrete skills, further preparing you for your ministerial future.

The MDiv degree offers three opportunities to engage in field education: Supervised Practice of Ministry (SPM) I and II and a Basic Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at an ACPE Certified Institution. The field education curriculum at Aquinas Institute helps students develop a pastoral leadership style that is marked by effectiveness, service, integration, and a particular commitment to the ministry of the Word.

The MDiv degree prepares students to excel in a variety of ministerial positions. These include serving as a high school and college campus minister, a parish life coordinator, a religious education director, a hospital chaplain, and a theology teacher.
