Key Summary

About: The English Language and Literature – A Level program explores diverse texts and language structures. It covers both creative and critical responses to literature, enhancing understanding of linguistic and literary techniques. The course aims to develop skills in analysis, interpretation, and writing.
Career Outcomes: Graduates may pursue careers in education, publishing, writing, journalism, or content creation. They can also find roles in media, marketing, and communication sectors, leveraging their skills in critical thinking and effective communication.

You will explore aspects of both English Language and Literature through a range of exclusively modern set texts – 20th and 21st century. There are many opportunities to develop your creative writing skills in all four forms – prose fiction, prose non-fiction, poetry and script – as you explore them throughout the course. This combined approach to the study of English enables a fascinating mixture of traditional literary analysis, and more content-focused language exploration, such as accent and dialect, youth language, e-communication and conversation analysis.
