Introduction

AIMC Berkeley’s Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) program is designed for future acupuncturists who want to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with a strong emphasis on integrative medicine. In 2016, our program received the maximum ACAOM accreditation of 7 years.

AIMC Berkeley operates year-round on a 15-week trimester system (3 terms of equal length per year). Our program is designed to be completed in 10 terms (3 1/3 years). The MSOM degree fulfils the educational requirements for both National (NCCAOM) and California (California Acupuncture Board) licensing standards.

Our students come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. Some are recent college graduates. Others have decades of experience in practising medicine, i.e., nurses, MDs or NDs, massage therapists, and others from varied professional backgrounds and are interested in changing careers. One common theme is that many students have had personally transforming experiences with acupuncture, bodywork, and herbalism.
