The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) is one of Central Europe’s foremost institutions for artistic education. Comprising three independent faculties—the Theatre Faculty (DAMU), the Film and TV School (FAMU), and the Music and Dance Faculty (HAMU)—AMU offers a wide range of opportunities for students seeking to develop their creative potential in an inspiring and internationally recognised environment.

AMU provides accredited degree programmes in English, complemented by short-term individual internships, exchange opportunities, specialised training, and study-abroad options. Across all faculties, students benefit from an individual approach rooted in hands-on practice and close collaboration with active professionals from Europe’s cultural and intellectual spheres. These include renowned filmmakers, theatre dramaturges, directors, actors, composers, instrumental virtuosos, and distinguished dancers. Thanks to this direct connection to contemporary artistic practice, AMU students regularly receive awards at major international and national festivals, demonstrating the exceptional quality of teaching and artistic development at our institution.

All AMU faculties are situated in the very centre of Prague, one of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally vibrant capitals. Surrounded by historic landmarks, theatres, concert halls, cinemas, museums, and galleries, students have countless opportunities for artistic inspiration and personal growth. Prague is consistently ranked among the world’s best student cities and stands 3rd among the 100 safest cities globally, making it an ideal place for study and everyday life.

Join us at AMU and become part of a thriving artistic community in a city that has sparked creativity for centuries. Discover an environment where tradition meets innovation—and where your artistic journey can truly begin.

AMU provides financial support to its students in the form of scholarships. These are used in various situations – for example, as a social benefit if a student is in a difficult situation, or as a tangible reward for exceptional results in various activities connected with studies.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 91 of the Higher Education Act, a school or faculty grants scholarships according to Scholarship Rules. According to the provisions of Section 17(1g) of the Act, the Scholarship Rules are an internal regulation of public higher education institutions.
