About : The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Styling program offers students in-depth knowledge of fashion, styling, and visual communication. Students engage in hands-on projects that prepare them for the dynamic world of fashion. The curriculum emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills essential for a successful career in styling.

Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue various roles, including fashion stylist, image consultant, and fashion editor. They may also find job opportunities in retail styling, marketing, and brand development. This program equips students with robust skills that are in demand across diverse sectors of the fashion industry.

Introduction

The School of Fashion offers ten BFA degree programs, each designed to prepare you for work in the fashion industry. They are: Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, Costume Design, Footwear & Accessory Design, Fashion Styling, Fashion Product Development, Fashion Visual Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, and Fashion Marketing. Students in these BFA programs may choose an emphasis in Fashion Design or 3D Design Pattern Making. Coursework combines excellence in design, artistic production, and innovative technology to provide students with the skills necessary to fully realize their creative visions.

BFA Fashion Styling Degree Requirements

A minimum grade of C- in all core courses, major courses, and LA 107 Writing for the Multilingual Artist or 108 Composition for the Artist
Minimum 2.0 GPA and the following general education requirements:

Demonstrate advanced skills in pinning, steaming, folding, and propping fashion products
Demonstrate basic skills in photography, composition, lighting, make-up artistry, and hairstyling

Clearly express their ideas utilizing fashion industry vocabulary.

Historical Knowledge

Intelligently discuss major fashion movements and the work of key stylists, designers, photographers, and magazines

Art Direction

Design the visual aesthetic of pictures for fashion photoshoots, including clothes, accessories, backdrops, props, photographic styles, location, hair, make-up, and models

Production

Manage production for commercial or fashion editorial photo shoots: crew, contracts, permits, transportation, catering, equipment
Assemble and coordinate creative teams for photoshoots, and conduct casting of models

Collaboration Skills

Work effectively in a team
Assemble a network of vendors and showrooms to source clothes, accessories, and props

Professional Readiness

Create a relevant and original portfolio and collateral materials that can be used to market themselves to the industry
