The Master’s Programme in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (120 ECTS) develops entrepreneurial leaders who can create sustainable value in startups, established companies and public-sector settings. Over two years students follow programme studies (including a Master’s thesis) and elective/minor studies, define a Personal Study Plan (PSP) with an academic advisor, and may take minors or exchanges at partner institutions. The programme offers two guiding tracks — a Sustainable startup track and a Sustainable corporate entrepreneurship track — but students are encouraged to craft personalised paths through elective choices.
Key teaching areas include entrepreneurship fundamentals, startup practice and leadership, market entry and financing, social innovation and entrepreneurship law, and how Sustainable Development Goals create business opportunities. The programme emphasises interdisciplinary, project-based learning, internationalisation (exchange semesters, summer courses, visiting lecturers), and close connection to Aalto’s Entrepreneurship Unit and research in entrepreneurship and sustainability. Graduates are eligible for doctoral studies and prepared for careers such as founders, startup executives, corporate venturing specialists, impact investors and policy advisors.
The programme is a two-year (120 ECTS) Master’s degree: programme studies (including the Master’s thesis) plus elective/minor studies. Students create a Personal Study Plan (PSP) with an academic advisor. Electives and minors (including exchange options) allow tailoring between a Sustainable startup track and a Sustainable corporate entrepreneurship track. Core and elective modules cover entrepreneurship foundations, startup practice and leadership, financing, law, social innovation, and sustainability-focused electives.
Aalto University provides a limited number of tuition fee waivers for fee-paying Master’s students. Scholarships are awarded to top applicants according to the programme's evaluation criteria.
