The program includes studio-based courses where you make your own art and design. It also includes studying the visual, cultural, social and political history of Indigenous peoples.

In the Indigenous Visual Culture program, you will be inspired to learn from the creative traditions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit art and design practices. This unique program develops Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students’ knowledge of Indigenous cultural and artistic practices, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and digital media. Students in the program receive academic, cultural, social, and wellness support through the Indigenous Visual Culture Student Center. Students in the program are creative, innovative, and curious and have many different skills and interests. Most have storytelling instincts and strong imaginations. Some have a drawing and painting ability or dance experience, some are DJs or VJs with an interest in communication. Many have well-developed visual-spatial skills and are interested in screens, games or performance, digital media production, or computer programming. At the end of this four-year program, you will earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

This program teaches traditional Indigenous art forms as well as introductory-level theory and skills in various other fine arts and craft media. Students will learn traditional and contemporary Indigenous art forms such as beading, carving, footwear, sewing, and hide tanning, in addition to the cultural and historical significance of these art forms.

The Indigenous Arts Diploma is a two-year program that focuses on developing the skills and knowledge to be a self-employed artist. In the first year of the program, students will complete the Indigenous Arts Certificate, which covers core Indigenous art forms and introductory-level study in various other fine arts and craft media.

This course is intended for Indigenous health professionals, or others who have completed a relevant undergraduate degree and wish to pursue a career that includes research or gain a competitive advantage in their career by completing an additional postgraduate qualification. Students gain research skills and expertise in their area of research interest, and demonstrate their outstanding academic ability and commitment to their field through the completion of the degree.

The Master's program in Governance and Entrepreneurship in Northern and Indigenous Areas (GENI) is delivered and administered with University of Saskatchewan. The GENI programme provides the opportunity to gain an understanding of the various challenges and opportunities facing the Circumpolar North. Students will learn how different strategies of governance, entrepreneurship, and resource management can strengthen the position of the communities and the peoples of the region.
