The General Studies: Humanities major offers an opportunity to customize a bachelor’s degree program to help students meet their academic goals and prepare for a variety of professions or for graduate school. Students work closely with an advisor to develop an approved bachelor’s degree program that includes depth and breadth in at least four disciplines in the Humanities: Art, Communication Arts, English, History, Humanities, Music, Nez Perce Language, Philosophy, Spanish, and Theatre. This degree can be completed online, face-to-face, or a combination of the two.

Begin with your Associate of Arts (DTA) degree at Tacoma Community College. TCC offers the Associate of Arts (DTA) degree with a Humanities track. The Associate of Arts (DTA) degree is a Direct Transfer Agreement degree and prepares students to transition successfully into a related Bachelor’s degree program at Washington State’s 4-year universities.

The humanities prelaw program takes an interdisciplinary approach to prepare students who want to graduate with an outstanding academic transcript and the kind of experience that meets law school entrance requirements. Because law schools look for students with a diverse liberal arts education, the prelaw program curriculum engages students in a series of challenging courses in history, literature, philosophy, psychology, and political science. It stresses critical thinking, learning to write well, and an understanding of human society.
