The Master’s programme Digital Heritage and Landscape Archaeology of the University of Cyprus is a unique postgraduate programme in the area of the E. Mediterranean that offers a concrete interdisciplinary academic course platform dealing with the application of spatial technologies and GeoInformatics in the wider domain of Digital Humanities.

The MA in English Studies offered by the Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus is a conventional 2-year MA program that carries 120 ECTS in total. In each of the first three semesters of study, students are required to register for three courses of 10 ECTS each.

The Ph.D. Program in French Studies provides students with a contemporary and specialized education and allows them to acquire scientific expertise in the rich cultural field of French Studies. The doctoral program in Translation Studies is designed for students who wish to undertake theoretical or applied research in areas of written language and cultural transfer (Translation) or oral language and cultural transfer (Interpreting), with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary perspectives.

Graduates of the program will be competitive to pursue work in the private or public sectors of Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, History, Art Architecture, Museum Studies, or the Study, Rehabilitation, and Management of the Historical Structured Environment.

The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme in Byzantine Studies and the Latin East, with the participation of philologists, historians, art-historians and archaeologists, presents a unique and path-breaking opportunity to explore the Byzantine and, more generally, the Medieval world from various perspectives.

The program aims at qualified graduates who will be ready to be actively involved in the actual restoration and conservation of historic buildings and sites. The academic objectives of the program involve high-level graduate teaching and practical application of the knowledge gained by students in case studies.

The doctoral program in Linguistics is designed for students who wish to undertake research in applied and theoretical linguistics in the areas of morpho-syntax, semantics and pragmatics, phonetics and phonology, first and second language acquisition, bilingualism, bi(dia) localism, multilingualism, sociolinguistics, teaching, and education.

The Postgraduate Programme in the History and Theory of Art was designed to fill a long-standing need within the field of Humanities in Cypriot academia. In contrast to the centuries-long, rich in a gamut of influences artistic tradition of Cyprus, until recently there was an absence of the necessary institutional framework and methodological tools, which would have allowed a substantial, multifaceted analysis of the island’s cultural identity, especially with regard to the arts, including its connections both to Europe and the Middle East, within the wider Mediterranean milieu. An important novelty of the Master’s Programme is the situating of historical and theoretical studies within an international perspective.

The English Language and Literature program enables students to develop the critical skills needed for textual reading and analysis, as well as the practical skills required to understand and teach the world’s primary international language. The program covers a broad range of English-language texts, examining significant historical, philosophical, and cultural developments through the study of literature and linguistics, as well as providing the cognitive skills required to teach English as a foreign language.
