Vancouver School of Theology continues its long-standing partnership with First Nations communities and its partnerships with inter-religious communities to make possible an M.A. in Indigenous and Inter-religious Studies.

The Master of Divinity and Master of Divinity by extension, degree programs are for those seeking an academic program with practical applications within which to explore the depth of their faith and prepare for a variety of public and pastoral ministries. VST’s Master of Divinity program is accepted for ordination by the Anglican, United and Presbyterian denominations in Canada and by the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America.

The Master of Arts in Theological Studies degree program is for those wishing to develop further perspectives in theological thought for personal or professional enrichment, for those interested in further academic study, or for those seeking further development in their spiritual journey in relation to other professions.

The Master of Theology degree is a post-graduate degree. This means an applicant is required to have already completed a master's degree in theological studies to be eligible to apply. The ThM (an advanced master's degree) is designed to provide the student with an advanced understanding of one area or discipline within the general context of the theological study, and the development of research methods and resources appropriate to the area or discipline chosen.

The Masters of Arts in Public and Pastoral Leadership recognizes the kinds of leaders that are needed for the changing nature of Christian communities and supports persons engaged in various forms of leadership, from congregations to social entrepreneurship, faith-based social services, NGOs, community-based development, mediation services and community-based justice initiatives.

The concentration in Spiritual Care is designed for those intending to pursue vocations as spiritual care practitioners in settings such as healthcare facilities, prisons and correctional facilities. This specialization has been designed to be in sync with the BC provincial government framework standards as well as the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care certification requirements. Within 24 months students can meet the BC standards requirements for a spiritual health practitioner.

The first program of its kind in Canada, the MA in Transformative Leadership and Spirituality offers a progressive, multidisciplinary approach to help you build your capacity as a leader for positive change. In this Master’s program, you will engage with the latest research on the intellectual, spiritual, personal, and professional dimensions of leadership.

Throughout the program of studies, emphasis is placed upon the practical application of law. Students are required to do a major research project accomplished in the research seminar under the guidance of a professor of the Faculty of Canon Law. The JCL degree enables clergy, religious, and lay persons to hold a variety of roles in tribunals and diocesan curias. It also prepares them to serve as key leaders and advisors in dioceses, religious institutes, societies of apostolic life, and various Catholic organizations. The JCL is always pursued concurrently with the Master in Canon Law.

The Christian Leadership program equips adults in leadership roles with biblical foundations, an understanding of our world, and leadership proficiency for their vocations.

A study of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the first three Gospels, with an inductive study of one of the Gospels. Current literary and historical approaches to the gospel narratives will be examined.

A study of the origin, development and spread of the Anabaptist movement, with special emphasis on history, doctrine and biography.

The Christian Leadership program equips adults in leadership roles with biblical foundations, an understanding of our world, and leadership proficiency.
